Belleek Castle

St Muredach's Cathedral Ballina

Built between 1825 and 1831, Belleek Castle is built on the site of a Medieval Abbey. The Castle is situated in beautiful wooded grounds and has a magical fairy trail which will delight all ages.

Belleek Castle was bought by Marshall Doran, a retired sailor, in 1961 and turned into a hotel in 1970. The Armada Bar was built by him from timber from a Spanish Armada ship which sank in Killala Bay in the 16th Century.

There is an extensive museum in the basement, and tours of the museum and the hotel are run three times a day. The Jack Fenn Café is a new addition and is open 11-5pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
